Join us at BWB Chicago’s New Civic Ignition Grant Program!
The Civic Ignition Workshop is BWB Chicago’s flagship microgrant program—where ideas meet action.
Born from our 10th Annual Winter Ball Fundraiser, this hands-on, high-energy gathering brings people together to pitch projects, build community, and fund changemaking work across Chicago.
Whether you're dreaming up a new initiative or refining a project you’ve already started, this is your space to think boldly, build collaboratively, and take the next step with support.
Even though applications are closed, you're still invited to:
Listen in as local changemakers pitch their bold, grassroots solutions
Support your community by helping shape which projects receive funding
Learn and participate in our consensus-based decision-making process
Connect with people who care deeply and act collectively
This isn’t just an event—it’s a moment to show up for each other, and for the kind of future we want to build together.
The Civic Ignition Grant is a microgrant awarded to community-driven projects—funded entirely by the generosity of attendees at our 10th Annual Winter Ball Fundraiser.
This isn’t corporate sponsorship. This is community fueling community.
Every ticket, every donation, every dance move helped raise the funds being awarded here.
Now, we get to see those dollars turn into real-world impact.
Even if you're not submitting a project, the workshop is rich with learning, insight, and connection. Here’s what you can expect to walk away with:
A firsthand look at how community-led funding works
Insight into what makes a project pitch impactful and grounded
Tools for collaborative decision-making and collective prioritization
Examples of how local changemakers are building with purpose
New relationships, fresh inspiration, and a clearer sense of where your gifts might plug in
This moment asks us to do more than imagine better futures—it asks us to build them, together.
The Civic Ignition Workshop creates space for local people to share ideas, pool resources, and make decisions collectively. It’s a rare chance to practice equity, collaboration, and shared vision—live and in real time.
Because the most powerful ideas don’t come from outside. They come from us.
We raised grant money at the Winter Ball
Now we’re giving it away—together
People pitch projects, we fund them via consensus
You don’t need to pitch to participate
Show up, be in community, and support good ideas
👀 Come curious.
🧠 Leave connected.
💥 This is what community-led funding looks like.
The Civic Ignition Workshop runs on collective magic—and that includes you.
We're looking for volunteers to support with:
Workshop setup & breakdown
Welcome table & guest check-in
Timekeeping & transitions
Snack wrangling + general good vibes
Whether you’re a spreadsheet wizard, a clipboard queen, or just want to plug in and be helpful—we’d love to have you.
📬 Interested? Email us, join the Discord, or come to a Monday chapter meeting!
We hope you’ll join us.
Even if you’re not pitching. Even if you’re new to BWB,
or new to the Chicago Burner community.
Come for the people. Stay for the purpose. Leave with your spark reignited.
